My latest song needed a music video. It's not an easy task to come up with concepts for these things. Sometimes I just let whatever happens happen. Brad Carl Behind The Scenes Look (Bloopers)
Here's my rankings and some of these i could have flipped a coin because they're so close. I will group them also. Bottom 3: 17-Comic book Heroes 16-Beginnings 15 -the Snake King-I'm not a big blues fan so this album is tough for me to like it much Decent but not that good 14-Beautiful Feelings-I made a mistake not buying this on CD when I had a chance and only have it on vinyl. Now it's out of print but is available in another version called the Early Sound City sessions and is almost identical but some different mixes. Love the song "Bruce" but version on Beautiful Feelings is better IMO. 13-Hard to Hold-Love Somebody and Don't Walk Away are great and Stand Up is pretty good. Never cared much for Bop til You Drop and only 7 RS songs on this soundtrack. 12-Automatic-too many songs, all about 3 minutes long, and I don't like the production. Sounds computer made vs real instruments. There are some good songs though and it's worth buying. Like them a lot but not my favorites 11-Wait for Night-played this a lot when released again in early 80s. Love "Take a Hand" and several other good songs like "Jessica" and "Old Gangsters Never Die" 10-Shock/Denial/Anger/Acceptance-a little too out of the normal RS sound for me. I have the 3 CD collectors version and it has some good tunes not on the regular disc so check that out if you're a big RS fan. "Wasted" and "Will I?" are really good and there are some others I like but only those 2 would make my "Best of RS" mix tapes The RS revival years which I really like (except S/D/A/A) 1999-2016 9-Venus in Overdrive-"Victoria's Secret" is awesome and would have been huge in the 80's. "I'll Miss that Someday and "3 Warning Shots' are good and some others also. 8-Songs for the End of World-I like this one better than "Venus" and "Our Ships Sinking" is a great rocker. The re-recorded "Lust" from the Sahara Snow sessions in the early 90's with Tim Pierce and Bob Marlette makes an appearance here and is another great RS track that general public has never heard. 7-Rocket Science-man I really like this record. Some say it sounds country but I disagree. It's just great pop-rock with hooks and melodies. "light This Party Up' severed as his live show opening tune for several years and "The Best Damn Thing" written for his wife is a very catchy tune that I listen to all the time and never get tired of it. 6-Karma-the comeback album from 1999 and it's fantastic. "hey Maria" the hidden tune Brad mentions in the video is worth the price of the CD itself. "Ordinary Girl" another one written about his wife is just perfect mid-temp catch pop. title track is also great. Buy this for sure if you don't have it. The RS prime years and some of these can be in any order but I have to rank them so here it goes. 5. Success Hasn't spoiled Me yet. Similar to Working Class Dog but not quite as good. still a great record. 4. Tao-This grew on me. It's so different in many respects to earlier music and I think the record company picked the singles wrong, especially "State of the heart" which is one of the worst songs on the album IMO. I love "Dance This World Away" and "Written in Rock" 3. Rock of Life-another change of direction for RS. "World Start Turning" and "Tear it all Down" are two of my all time favorite RS songs. "Hold on to your Dream" should be used for the Olympics or other sporting events. those three are perfect songs. Again, I think the power people picked the wrong singles, especially "Honeymoon in Beirut" as that song is way too deep for top 40 radio. It never cracked the hot 100. Rock of Life, his last top 40 single made the top 25 if I remember correctly. His voice sounds strained on his record and I was worried that he had lost something but by the time Karma arrived 11 years alter it was great again. 2. Working Class Dog-the album that made his career 1. Living in Oz-first side of this album is maybe the best album side of power pop/melodic rock anywhere. Second side is good and I like them all except :tiger by the Tail".
Look at you going to town with your rankings! Great notes here on all of them. A couple of things - I'm not sure that I have heard the Songs For The End version of "Lust" as I dont own the CD and I'm not sure that it's on any streaming versions of the album - or is it? Have you noticed that "Spanish Eyes" from Beautiful Feelings is the same riff as "Don't Talk To Strangers" but, of course, it was several years earlier? I agree, they definitely picked the wrong 2 singles from Rock of Life. Great stuff! Thank you for sharing!
@@BradCarlMusic You are absolutely correct on Spanish Eyes. I had to go back and listen to it again as it's been so long since I heard it. I found the Sahara Snow version of "Lust" on you tube and will link it here. The other song I really like on that album is "Rovianne". I think it was made in the early 90s when Rikc wasn't doing much and was not released until a few years later. Very over produced and over dubbed but it's still pretty decent. ruclips.net/video/8hN7xMIqTxI/видео.html
SDAA is on Apple music. Wasted is great but I don't love the album. it's good but not great IMO. Automatic which came out in August of 2023 is decent but it has too many songs and it all sounds like it was done on a computer vs being recorded in a studio. Most of the songs re good but I didn't care for the production too much. And there is a female backup or harmony vocal on a lot of the songs that I don't think was necessary.
Yes, SDAA is now streaming everywhere. Maybe RS watched this video of me whining about it? ha ha. I dont disagree with your thoughts on Automatic. I feel about it the same way you feel about SDAA.
I love Rocket Science! Light this party Up and The Best Damn thing are awesome. I would put it in my top 5 or 6. I'll have to work on my own rankings soon. I also love Wait for Night. Lot of good songs on that one including Take a Hand which peaked at #41 just missing the top 40. You are absolutely right on Hey Maria from Karma. that is a great song and should have been a hit. Probably would have if released in the 80s. Rock of Life is a great album and never got it's just due since he didn't tour and top 40 radio was changing to R&B pop and hair metal ballads. Thanks for the video and I will put in my own rankings sometime soon.
Ah, great feedback here, too! If you know the Eagles and RS as well as I do - we should probably have been friends in High School! Definitely some great songs on Wait For Night - I agree!
Nice job and I appreciate your opinion but I love On the Border. Hotel California has 4 slow songs so it does not rock that much either plus it's only 8 songs total. Here's my rankings: 7. The Long Road out of Eden-would be higher if they took the best songs and made one disc instead of two. 6. Eagles-pretty decent but after the 3 hits not much else I play often. 5. One of these Nights-Love the 3 hits and "After the thrill is Gone" but other 4 songs pretty weak 4. Desperado-pretty good from beginning to end but nothing fantastic except the title track 3. Hotel California-sure it's good but only 8 songs and Frey only sings one plus it's totally overplayed 2. The Long Run-probably a tie with HC but I'll put it one notch ahead since I'm not tired of most of these songs. Problem is it has a terrible song, Teenage Jail, maybe their worst song of all time, and I don't care for Those Shoes, King of Hollywood and the Disco Strangler. the rest of them I like a lot. 1. On the Border- Absolutely love this album. Everyone gets to sing that matters. I don't count Felder as he just got there near the end of recording and he's not a good singer. Frey does 2 leads and 2 shared with Henley. Henley does 3 leads and 2 shared with Frey. Meisner does 2 leads and Leadon does one and that one "My Man" is my favorite Leadon sung song off any Eagles album. the only song on this album I usually skip over is Midnight flyer as it's a little too bluegrass for my tastes but it's still ok.
Thank you for taking the time to watch, comment, and respond with your rankings. Obviously, this is all very subjective and your points are certainly fair about HC. It's funny, I actually love the oddities like Teenage Jail and King of Hollywood. But they are not for everybody. Are you familiar with the B-side to "Take It Easy" called "Get You In The Mood"? There's a song I didn't know about until a few years ago. I get why it wasn't on the album. It would've made more sense on "The Long Run" I think.
@@BradCarlMusic That is a good song and sounds nothing like anything else from their debut album. I love the mix with the vocals far up front and crisp and clean. I think this was their only B-side besides Funky New Year that was not on an album. Eagles have little music that was lost or recorded and not released. Many artists like Elton John for example used B-sides that were not on an album and were extra songs recorded during their current sessions. Springsteen did this also.
@@rzrbckmz23 Yes, very good point. The Eagles spent so much time perfecting their music....they didn't have a lot of throwaways.

@@jimmykelly4138thank you so much, Jimmy! A lot of people do not know that song which I’m surprised by because it was popular - several decades ago. Don’t be a stranger, sir! And thanks again!
Everyone sells Long Road Out Of Eden short, , How Long , Busy Being Fabulous, Waiting In The Weeds , What Do I Do With My Heart , No More Walks In The Woods , Guilty Of The , Crime , No More Cloudy Days, Long Road Out Of Eden , It’s Your World Now , I Don’t Want To Hear Anymore would have made a killer album

Howdy Brad . . . . ya' probably won't believe me but I listened to this upload last night and again tonight as I prepped dinner. Of course I liked some more than others, but my favourites were 'Ruby' followed by 'Colorado Kool-Aid' and 'Perfect Day'. Having said that, I liked the entire list. Must mention I hadn't heard 'Colorado Kool-Aid' before . . . that's gotta' be good I reckon. 🤷🏻♂ I could rant more but I don't want to bore you. 🙄 Excellent upload Mate and thoroughly enjoyed. This is a great (YT) legacy. 👍🏻 Peace and Respect as always Brad. ✌ 🙏
Hi Johnny! I DO believe you and I have to say those are 3 of my favorites, too! It really means a lot to me that you listened to the entire thing not once but twice. Seriously. Thank you so much!! Colorado Kool-Aid was one my father introduced me to in the late 70s when I was quite young. It was on Johnny Paycheck's album (cassette) "Take This Job and Shove It." Not sure if you have heard of him down there?

What a song!!!! I loved this one from the second you first played me the demo, and this final version is dialed in, it's soulful, and it's a mover and a shaker! I've always loved when you cut loose vocally my friend, and this song is a showcase of that let it rip vocal styling!
